Halloween seemed to have completely crept up on me this year (seriously...totally missed the memo that everyone was celebrating last weekend), and at this point, finding a costume can be kind of tricky.
With only a few days left until the 31st, most of the good costumes are sold out of stores already, leaving us procrastinators with slim pickings. Plus, do we really want to be shelling out a ton of cash for a costume this late in the game?
Well, not to fret my loves, I've got some last-minute costume ideas featuring pieces you already own, and stuff you can wear after your festivities. Win-win, right?
Here are some last-minute costume ideas you can wear after Halloween:
Where's Waldo
I spoke to Erin Taylor-Mitchell, Style Editor at ClearlyContacts.ca, a couple of weeks ago, and she filled me in on the latest eye wear trends: geek-chic, vintage-inspired frames, particularly the round variety.
"Perfectly round plastic frames are really trending right now," said Taylor-Mitchell. "We saw a lot of this style at NYFW, so it's definitely a smart style to go for that can be transitioned and worn after Halloween as well."
Her costume pick to go with round specs? Where's Waldo!
Along with your glasses, all you need is a red striped shirt, a red toque and those cobalt blue skinny jeans you bought a couple of seasons ago when coloured denim was all the rage. A striped shirt is totally versatile and can be worn with anything from jeans to leggings (or with my current fave piece, denim overalls!) and the toque is a super cute way to keep you warm this winter.

Fashion Blogger
If you haven't already checked out the Tumblr "Shit Bloggers Wear", you need to do so right now. Let's face it, we fashion bloggers can get serious cases of FOMO and often try to get our hands on something as soon as our more popular colleagues in the blogosphere post them. Since fashion is meant to be fun, so why not make a joke about the ridiculousness of it all? Chances are, you probably have most of these things in your closet anyway! I'm talking anything Brian Lichtenberg, Nike Frees, Celine bag (or a knockoff, if it's out of your price range), that Zara skort that everyone has (myself included) and Miss Delevingne's fave, the "Ain't No Wifey" hat from Dimepiece L.A. The point isn't to make the outfit look good, per say, but to combine all the sh*t bloggers wear together. Don't forget to add a pair of sunglasses and a coat (worn over your shoulders, obv), and you're set!
From left: Zara Coat with Box Sleeve, $159; Brian Lichtenberg "Homies" Sweatshirt, $98; Dimepiece L.A. Ain't No Wifey Beanie, $32; Celine Luggage Bag, Zara Mini Skort, $59.50; Nike Free 5.0+ Running Shoe, $115; Ray-Ban Wayfarer, $189.
Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's
A classic costume that is super easy to replicate using staples you already have in your closet (and if you don't have them..this is the perfect time to buy!) Grab a black dress (any length will do, really) and accessorize with pearls, black satin gloves, black pumps and oversized sunnies. Find that old tiara you wore to your Grade 8 graduation (you know what I'm talking about!!), put your hair up in a bun, and voila! You have instantly transformed into Holly Golightly.
From left: H&M Jersey Dress, $59.95; Target Crystal and Pearl Tiara, $29.99; Forever 21 Braided Pearlescent Necklace, $14.80; Balenciaga Sunglasses, $129.99; Nine West Regola Pump, $79.
What will you be dressing up as this Halloween?
