Last Thursday, we headed backstage at Andrew Richard Designs to check out Comrags' Fall 2013 collection at The shOws.

Though beauty on the runway can often be a little bit too crazy for everday, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the Comrags beauty look was something that could be worn in real-life and easily recreated at home.

"At a lot of shows, the makeup doesn't look too wearable," said Greg Wencel, celebrity makeup artist and CoverGirl makeup pro who created the look. "When we met with [Comrags designers] Judish Corish and Joyce Gunhouse, they wanted to make sure that it was something that made a statement, but something that someone wouldn't be afraid to actually try."

Wencel's inspiration? A youthful, look reminiscent of a Parisian girl or models backstage sipping wine.

"The Comrags girl has something healthy and organic about her. It's a polished look, that's super pretty and very wearable," he explained.

Wencel gave us a rundown on how to recreate the look at home, using CoverGirl cosmetics:

FACE:
To prep the skin, Wencel used CoverGirl + Olay Simply Ageless Serum Primer so that the models would have really "gorgeous, supple-looking skin." Overtop, he used Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation, a matte foundation that mimics the texture of skin and can be used on its own, without any power.

Since Wencel wanted the girls to look polished, without being overdone, he created his own shimmer highlight for a dewy look. On the back of his hand, he mixed SmokyShadowBlast in Bronze Fire and the Simply Ageless Serum primer and applied to the forehead, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow and chin with a flat, synethic brush. He then finished off the highlighting by applying to the outer corner of the brow and then onto the cheekbone.

For definition, he contoured the cheek using Cheekers Bronzer in Golden Tan, and then used Cheekers Blush in Classic Pink, a for a "youthful, fresh flush."

EYES:
Using the same SmokyShadowBlast, Wencel applied the bronze colour all across the eyelid, and then took the lightest shade from the Eye Enhancers 3-Kit Shadow (in Shimmering Sands) to highlight the inner corner of the eye. He then applied the darkest shadow overtop of the SmokyShadow blast for a soft wash of colour.

"We layered the powder over the cream to give it a softer look and make the eyeshadow look more vivid," explained Wencel. "The wetness of the cream picks up the powder, so it sticks and makes it last a bit longer, and gives it an all-over softer effect."

For the lashes, Wencel used two different mascaras because for extra dimension. After curling twice, he applied Lash Perfection in Very Black on the top and bottom lashes for a dramatic look and then went through again with Clump Crusher mascara for separation and definiton.

In terms of eyebrows, Wencel kept them as is for a "boyish" look and just used Professional Natural Lash Mascara to keep them from looking unruly.

LIPS:
The standout part of the Comrags beauty look was the lip -- a gorgeous berry colour which Wencel described as a "blackened rose."

To achieve the look, he prepped the lip with some concealer and CoverGirl + Olay Pressed Powder to avoid feathering and to ensure long-lasting colour.

He then lined the lip with Lip Perfection Lip Liner in Sophisticated (a deep plum shade) and then applied Lip Perfection Lipstick in Euphoria. To finish off, he applied Lip Perfection Lipstick in Enamor just to the centre of the lip for some added depth.

NAILS:
Models wore Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Always Naked, a stone grey shade which Wencel said was the "perfect modern compliment for a blackberry lip."
