I love trying out new beauty products and brands, so when I heard that BECCA Cosmetics (a line loved by Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce and Kate Moss, to name a few) was launching in Canada exclusively at Sephora, I was super excited to check it out.
Founded in 2001 by makeup artist Rebecca Morrice Williams, the Australian brand was developed out of Morrice William's inability to find the perfect foundation. After six years of development and research, she was able to create her own line of skin-perfecting products to create that natural, flawless look we all crave. Now, the line consists of 30 different foundation colours (so you're guaranteed to find your perfect match) along with a huge range of shades for face, lips, cheeks and eyes.
BECCA makeup artist Kerry Cole was at the Sephora Eaton Centre launch of BECCA cosmetics, and filled me in on the BECCA must-haves that will give you what she calls the "five minutes to fab" look:
Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation, $51
BECCA's main philosophy is to enable all women, regardless of age or ethnicity, to achieve a natural, flawless-looking complexion. This buildable coverage foundation is suitable for all skin types and comes in 16 shades to match the "lightest of lights to darkest of darks," says Cole. It contains ejitsu rose and an oxygen complex to improve skin's elasticity and radiance, much like an oxygen facial. Not only will your skin look flawless and radiant with this foundation, but it will also be protected against pollution and free-radical damage.
Shimmering Skin Perfector, $41
If you want that J.Lo glow, this product is for you. One of BECCA's best-selling products, the Shimmering Skin Perfector is a hydrating sheer liquid luminizer that subtly highlights your face and diffuses uneven skin tone. The great thing about this product is that unlike other highlighters, it doesn't contain glitter, so skin looks naturally dewy, and not over-the-top. The Shimmering Skin Perfector contains SPF 25+ for sun protection, antioxidants to guard against daily damage, and witch hazel and aloe extract to soothe inflammation and redness. Cole's tip? Mix a small amount with your foundation and apply to face and decolletage for an all-over glow. You can also use this product instead of sunscreen while on vacation for some extra radiance.
Beach Tint, $25
Beach Tint is the perfect product for women on the go. It's a water-resistant creme stain that can be used on your lips and cheeks for a subtle wash of colour. They're super blendable and look great alone, over top of your foundation, and underneath your bronzer and blush. It comes in eight yummy fruity shades, each scented to subtly scentd accordingly (I especially loved raspberry, papaya and guava!)
Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, $36
One of Cole's absolute favourite products, the Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, will leave even the oilest of skin matte for up to eight hours. This silicone-free primer minizes pores and contains tiny spheres that burst and absorb oil throughout the day, keeping your skin shine-free. It can be used alone, before, or after foundation and won't leave you with that cakey look powders leave you with. It can also be used as an eyeshadow base for oily eyelids.
